Follicular hair transplant has now become the most advanced and permanent hair transplant method of hair transplantation surgery. Follicular hair graft consists of single follicular unit with the bordering of sebaceous glands. In point of fact, the hair on the scalp of the head grows in groupings of one, two, three and four hairs which can be seen by microscope. These hair grouping grow in unbalanced outline on the scalp and known as “follicular units”. This transplantation is done by changing place of bald opposing follicular units from the back and side of the scalp to the balding area for the natural growth of the hairs.
The advantages of hair transplant surgery are that the smaller grafts are removed with minimal scratches as the follicular unit grafts contain a minimum of scalp tissue that required a very small cut to fit the graft. By the use of microscope, trim the donor tissue so that it looks like natural occurring follicular units. This process will surely help the balding patient to get instant result to recover hair loss. After the follicular hair transplantation, the hairs gives natural look even on the close examination also as the follicular unit hair transplant fabricates duplicates hair for hair. This natural look can be seen after one surgical session, more sessions are required just to increase the thickness of the hairs.
The other procedure of doing follicular hair transplant is the Direct hair Implants (DHI) technique, this technique does not use any blade, stitches or a donor strip for arranging follicular hair transplant. Follicular unit extraction is used as the procedure for DHI, as this procedure does not require any donor scalp from donor area and as a result no dissection is required of follicular units. This extraction is simple, painless and required less time as compared to follicular hair transplant which use graft extraction technique. DHI surgery requires custom cut lateral slit blades, hypodermic needles, and the original DHI implanter to provide natural occurring hairs.
